Death of a pregnant fly

Well, she didn’t have long anyway. Ideally, a fly lays the maggots while they’re still in the egg — if she’s waited long enough that they hatch in her body, they’ll start eating into her.

debatable - there’s plenty of flies that live birth, and usually for good reason - the Flesh Flies, for example, don’t want to waste any time getting stuck into carrion (there’s so many other flies and animals they’ll be competing with) and will carry her babies around until she finds some to put them on.

And the Tsetse Fly goes one better, carrying a single maggot at a time, until it’s almost ready to pupate, and feeding her baby from a nipple in her womb.
